And aside: I know that in the mid nineties people started touted toys for infants in red,black and white as the contrast is so great and it gets the children interested in the objects earlier.

OTOH: Maybe that will decrease the ability to discern more subtle color differentiations until the optic nerve has completed it's most important growing phase. It would be a trade-off between intelligence and eye-sight.

This last bit is conjecture of course.
