When we say "Off", we mean "OFF", not "Silent".

It's one of my pet hates - I recall doing a corporate event recently for a cellphone network company, and we told all the delegates "Make sure you turn off all mobile phones"

During the rehearsal, a loud trill of pips came over the PA, and the director who was stood on stage suddenly went very, very red - he'd been called and due to the proximity of his phone to the radiomic beltpack we got an extremely high level of interference.

The interference isn't actually in the radio reception - it's directly induced currents within the audio circuitry and tielines (long audio cables from backstage to the control booth).

Obviously we do our best to minimise the effects of RF noise by using good quality screened twisted pairs, but cellphones are particularly nasty.
