to deny the people to right to bear arms the government is telling them that they can not be trusted. Take a look into the history of gun control in the US, UK and other western countries. It has never been about crime, it is about maintaining control over a portion or the whole of the population. Only at the end of the last century was the excuse of crime prevention used to hide the intentions of the laws. It started here in southern states to deny the rights to poor black people. It was similar in the UK, the first laws were enacted during a period of unrest in London and the other urban centers.
