In the United States there are less than 800 accidental deaths with firearms every year. That number has been decreasing for decades. As for self-defense with a firearm there are upwards of 2 million plus successful instances of self-defense with a gun in the United States. Even in cases where the attacker already had his gun out. Yes I do post 'idiots with guns" just like they show you the gory roadside death scenes in drivers ed. It's a way of saying "Be careful or you could wind up like this." It is because of a strong push for gun safety classes, and grass roots efforts like ordnance_corner that accidental gun deaths in the United States has been decreasing.
