I sliced my finger open at work today. by shorty82 2006-09-14 19:42:47
I'm not lab rat but I think her clumsiness is rubbing off on me.

I work at AutoZone and this morning about 9:30 (7:30 UF) I was cutting some hose for a customer with a razor knife as our hose cutters are to dull to do anything.

The knife slips and slices into the back of my right, middle finger right above the middle knuckle. I set the hose on the counter and run to the bathroom to put a paper towel over the cut as I was bleeding a lot.

I then put on a band-aid from the first aid kit but quickly realized one wouldn't be enough so I put on another. I had to put a third on a few minutes later as I saw the blood was soaking through the other two. When I saw that this band-aid was also getting dark fast I decided I had better go somewhere and tell my manager so. He already knew I had cut myself.

We print out and fill in the proper forms, he faxes and calls the company that handles our workman's comp and a little while later I go to a local urgent care center. There I am eventually seen by a nurse who gives me a tetnus shot and then the doctor who examines me and sews me up. He is going to be refering me to a orthopaedic doctor as I sliced into my tendon some.

A nurse comes in a few minutes later and puts a splint on my finger to prevent from bending it. She then leads me to the drug test room and I do the urinate into a cup thing as a drug test is required when someone gets hurt on the job.

The injury only hurts a little right now but the doctor did perscribe some pain killers in case it starts to hurt.

Though I won't be able to do any battery or wiper changes for a while I can still work thankfully. I had to take the rest of the day off today but that's fine.

I didn't go home after I left the store after dropping off the forms from the clinic. I went to Sear's Auto to get some service done on my van and I bought some tools from Sears while waiting. I then dropped off my perscription at the pharmacy and went to dinner with a friend I haven't seen in a while. I also went out for a walk at my university before I came back here.

I'm never this clumsy, lab rat living in the same town must have caused some of her clumsiness to rub off.
