I think it's quite pathetic. Also, knowing how little use it actually IS for protection (against what? burglars? oh sure...they usually try to kill you...).

Don't get me wrong. I have a gun fascination too - I used to be a competitive shootist (thinking about picking it up again). But I have respect for a deadly weapon, meaning my guns are locked in a secured safe and not placed in a cupboard. It's as good as impossible for anyone to get to them. This is required by law in Norway, by the way.
