There and back again... by LeoHyuuga2006-09-14 09:11:33
Have you ever been sailing? by VivianC 2006-09-14 11:35:56
There is a process for sailing into the wind called tacking. Basically, to head into the direction of the wind, you travel at a 45 degree angle to it. Every so often, you need to turn the boat 90 degrees so you are now heading back the other direction but still into the direction of the wind at 45 degrees. It's a lot simpler to explain with a picture.

Imagine this symbol is the wind: | (blowing down the screen when you want to head up).

So as you start out, your sail and wind looks like this:

So then you tack and you end up looking like this:

Got it? So what is my point, anyway? You are tacking right now. You are changing direction in your life. During the process, your sail goes directly into the wind. It flaps uselessly and you seem to make no progress at all. But as you complete the turn, the sail catches wind again and you start moving.

You are in the middle of your tack right now. You are not moving and your sail is useless. Just give it time. Finish your tack. Have a little patience and you will find you start moving again.

Hope this makes sense. Best of luck to you!
