from home grown ones then. I have friends in the US federal services who transfered out of Oklahoma just in time to miss a little homegrown problem there. I know there are some unmarked nuclear facilities that would have been just as easy to target - I've driven within 100 feet many, many times. Good news? Security on those were tightened up _last_ millenium. And then there's that problem of Montana Mathematicians.
Is the USA or England prepared? As much as ever. As it turns out Freedom has a cost for non-military people as well. Viligance and responsibily, and when you fail on the responsibility part, well... you have a loss. Tragic. In the old sense, a tragedy, a disaster rooted in a tragic flaw, a human flaw. Remarkably often it's pride, and it's identical twin cockyness.
Unfortuantely, responsibilty is not on offer from the governments right now, just "security". Which doesn't seem to secure a **** thing outside of someone-or-another's power. |
