Ok, I need to find out if this network guy is lying to me through his teeth. ;-)
We have a setup with a database server in our datacenter, and Mobile WLAN Clients all over the country accessing that database.
Everything is fine (more or less) and dandy (sorta) until the requests and the network packets get bigger. Then they run into an MTU - Related problem on a VPN Tunnel and are not transmitted anymore.

He now tells me that we need to change the MTU settings on EVERY WLAN Client and on the Database Server (only about 1% of the database Servers traffic is for those WLAN Clients, the rest stays in the LAN) since there is absolutely nothing he can do to limit the Size of the packeds only on the VPN connection.
Well, I don't know, but I can set the MTU on my Linux Router at home just fine and don't have to ask Google and Amazon to adjust theirs.
Any thoughts on that subject here? |
