True, pizza originated in Italy, but foods spread and evolve. Most of the pizza places I've seen serve an American descendent of pizza. The Italian sort is also available, but at a different kind of restaurant.

Think of most 'cuisines' you are familiar with. Ramen originated in China, but is considered Japanese cuisine. Curry is often associated with Thai food, but originated in India. And so on.
