It should be "what did I do?"

A few years after I signed up my country was taken over by an Arkansan moron and his bunch of troglodytes, effectively turning my country into a weak shadow of its once proud self.

I stayed loyal to my oath, which was to my country first, and worked within the laws I was governed by to limit what damage that dope smoking, womanizing, communist loving, military hating, S.O.B. could do. Got great results too, especially in 1994.
