Following orders is the *enlisted* mans most important thing. If he gets into combat, it'll keep him alive more than thinking will.

If an enlisted man has a problem with an order he's given, there are procedures for him to register a complaint (as with the question about wiping out unarmed women and children elsewhere in this thread has shown).

He does NOT have a duty to refuse participation in activities he considers ethically wrong. He has a duty to refuse duties LEGALLY wrong as listed in the UCMJ (such as shooting unarmed civilians).

If he has ethical issues with what he's doing, he shouldn't have signed up. The oath clearly states that you will do what you are told by those who are above you, NOT that you'll only do what you feel is right.
