if the Intent is to lie to defame someone then it is Libel or slander. If the intent is only to inform and let people throw out Opinions, as long as those opinions do not cross that invisible line and are presented as *opinion* and NOT *fact* then legally it is ok.

If it were any other way then the Domino theory would kick in and all of the "opinion" shows let alone news media and freedom of speech would go out the window with a quickness.

NOTE:
Of course, I am GREATLY simplifying what my law prof told us and Slander/Libel is a very grey are in some cases, so intent is a VERY big part of it. Google Slander/libel cases and you will see what I mean.
