At any employment level, a lot of jobs are just filled by word of mouth, no advertising. You may just hear of an opening that doesn't have a "help wanted" ad or sign in the window. Anywhere I work, the manager owner asks us "You know anybody?" FIRST before putting up the help wanted sign.
