I always drink from them. by Michiel 2006-09-08 04:42:50
But first you have to take certain precautions.

There are three dangers:

* You might summon snakes or hostile water demons. So be strong enough to fight them.
* You might lower certain statistics. Have a unicorn horn to restore yourself. (Or a scroll of restore ability.)
* Your inventory might get cursed ("This water's no good."). That's why you need a blessed scroll of remove curse to fix it afterwards. Be sure to drop it and the unicorn horn before quaffing, lest they become cursed as well. And you may want to drop blessed items, because the scroll won't re-bless them.

If you do it right it's totally worth it. In my current game I got two wishes (blessed +3 gray dragon scale mail and blessed +3 gauntlets of power) and about four status increases from the fountains from level 1 to level 22.

Oh, don't quaff from the fountains in mine town. The guards don't like it.
