Switch jobs? by ramenator 2006-09-08 04:29:39
Alright, here's my situation. I work for a staffing agency. They have me come in at 7 in the morning, and I have to leave at 10 for class. The problem with this is that there's an hour commute each way. I get paid 7 dollars an hour. It ends up being 10 hours of commuting for 18 hours of work. Not a good deal.

And I've got the possibility of working at Starbucks coming up, which is a longer commute, but the hours would be better and though the pay is $7 an hour there are also tips. I do not know how much people at Starbucks usually make in tips, though. If I get the hours I want and the tips that the guy told me it'd be, it'd work out to be about 8 hours of commuting for 24 hours of work at $8.50 an hour including tips. Still not a good deal but better than the other deal.

Now let me ask you this: how many of you think that Starbucks will screw me over later and cut my hours in January or something?
