If there are no further details given, one would assume the restriction applies only to the time during the trip, further confirmed by the fact that you are allowed to take pictures and preserve experience of the trip, both with potential to alter history. Changing history clause is also void if time machine was invented in the past as hinted by the fact that one is accessible for the grand prize.
