I have had the week from #&!! trying to get 10.4 on that old PowerMac G3.
(1) Did not like the first CD drive I tried. But get a "good" one on, and installed OS 9
(2) Did not like the First DVD drive. Went to a used shop and got a 2xDVD. Then it did not like the disk I was using for OS X.
(3) Sound worked in OS9, but so well in OS X. If I plug in the speakers in all the way, no sound. Pull out half way, get full sound.
(4) I have 4-5 better PCI video cards around here. None of them work in the G3, both in OS 9 and X
(5) I have two sticks of 32X8 memory, one is seen as 256 and the other is seen as 128
(6) OS 9 will not see a 18 Gig hard drive, or two hard drives, but after getting OS X no problem.
And all the other little weird things.
