I had to move my two young cats two weeks ago from a friends place to my parents place. Problem: my parents already have two elderly cats, but fortunately the house is big enough so we can segregate them. My moggy was happy and settled within about 3 hours. My burmese took a lot longer: something like 36 hours before she was settled. In the duration, she would growl and hiss for no apparant reason, but took affection and sought my lap.
