I'm switching ISPs to Xmission. They have 99.9987% uptime and MUCH better routes. They use multiple backbones and much better equipment. Plus, I get a free static IP :) It will still be 15 Mbps up/down, but my throughput is limited to 100 GB/mo. Above that, I pay $1.75/GB. Hopefully we'll be ok.
Anyway, we'll hopefully have only a small interruption, as I have to call my current ISP to cancel, wait for them to flip the off switch, call my new ISP to turn their switch on, then report my new IP address and wait for the DNS to propogate. Might only be down an hour or so. I'll keep everyone updated as I can.
This should be a big change for the better. |
