Spent the better part of 2-1/2 hours at the vet. her weight is down 300g from her last `official' weighing. (ie not weighed in my arms on a bathroom scale). The vet was supprised that the vet in Canada had not done any diet management other than putting her on the M/D food (diet food). We now get to weigh her food and record how much she is eating (a trick with two cats in the house with different dietary requirements).
There was nothing obvioulsy wrong with Knuckles (no pain, no abnormal heart, lung, bowel sounds) but we sedated her and took blood samples to check liver functions as well as to check for diabetes (a common problem with over weight cats). Because of her size we had to give her a second shot to sedate her as the first bearly made her groggy. While she was out, we also decided to giver her all her vacinations which are due in the begining October.
Now she is at home again, and in a sucky mood. she was much better with this vet than she was with the vet in Edmonton. we have to wait for the vet to call us with the results of teh blood work in a week or so, until then she is on Jenny Craig and little walks in the stair well twice a day. |
