And had a problem at one point. Something complained that it was turned off and I needed to turn it back on. This just disables automatic updates. I turned off automatic update notification as well which the bot scanners tend to complain on but I ignore. As for manual updates some will ask if you wish to reboot and some programs(windows specific or something you install) may not offer that option. They only have a "restart" button.
