(Worth A Shot) Assuming you know which version his changes were based on, save the diff between his version and the base version as a patch. Also save the differences between your mods and the HEAD of CVS. Then clean update your CVS repository to latest, and apply the first patch you just saved. It might work, it might not. Resolve any conflicts if any. Then apply your patch. Might save you a lot of work, if there haven't been a lot of changes and conflicts.
