She's not married. 'Single mother' From the article it sounds like the father of her kids is leaving her high and dry. I don't think she can count on any assistance from him. Though I agree that any family she has should help her, it isn't clear from the article whether she has any family besides her mother still alive. Some people aren't lucky enough to have family to help them out.
