unless they were to completely, sincerely, believably and honestly renounce what was said and done before and do a full-fledged mea culpa before their former fanbase.
But then, they'll be swimming in accusations of pandering, accusations of selling out what they believe in, sacrificing their convictions on the altar of commercial success, etc.
They've crippled themselves (Maines, in particular) and I don't see a "full" recovery anytime soon, for at least the length of people's memories. See also: Mel Gibson. |
