...about making the claim, anyway. Some homeowners' insurance companies are looking for ANY excuse to drop people. There is also a significant "discount" for being claim-free. Most deductibles are $500-$1000 anyway- so at best, only half of the cost would be covered, and the insurance company would more than recover that with the rate increase they'd put on the coverage the next year. You really don't want to get the insurance company involved with property damage issues less than a couple grand.
