I don't see there even one novel by Hugo or Zola, not to mention medieval classics and a good measure of other different non-anglophone writers. Granted, besides these positions, in my opinion lacking in the list, there are many good ones.
However, the list makes me wonder if these are not the books that are nice to read, rather then really "great". Excuse me, but I cannot understand presence of Austen's "Emma" or Shelley's "Frankenstein" in first 10.
If it was 100 most interesting, or nicest(?) to read books, then the list would make more sense (maybe with the exception of "Ulysses", very hard to read for non native speaker, and Hugo who's novels are truly interesting).
