The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time? The main character of that book is autistic, and the way Tim describes everything in this chapter, is similar to what you see in that book. At least, I think it's similar. It's been a while since I've read the book. That's a good book to read anyway: very polished style, and a good story. I don't find Timmy particularly interesting just yet. Do you have some interesting character traits lined up for him? In that case, I'd try and establish his character already, and not wait until later chapters. Now I only know that he skates, and is obsessed with describing things absolutely right.
