Part of what makes steel HURT is it's mass. C-F is "just as strong", but weighs less, thus less mass to impart sufficient kinetic-energy upon impact. For uses like this, you WANT the heft of solid steel, for once it's in motion, their bones are less likely to STOP it from moving. (And steel makes a LOVELY ringing !GONG! noise when it connects! MUH HAhahahahahhahaah)
