His desktop (on the computer) is littered with icons... icons EVERYWHERE... (I stopped counting at 60)

His physical desktop is just as cluttered.

I tried to show him that "All of these shortcuts are redundant. It's ALL available through the menu system in under four clicks."
I organize the Start menu into "Games / Multimedia / Online / System Tools / Writing" menu's for instant clarity, and nothing ELSE is ever more than two levels deep from there. The most it should take to get to anything is four clicks, and usually only two.
This was, however, too difficult for him, as if it wasn't on his desktop, he'd forget how to get to it via the menus.
At that point, I tried to make tool bars for him.
Same concept as the Menu's, but as shortened-name toolbars (G / M / O / S / W) with everything mirrored there. Only TWO mouse clicks away!
No dice. Still too difficult.
