I blame socialism for it. Seriously. The idea that the government should be there to help has somehow become distorted into "The government MUST help with EVERYTHING" and "The government should give me a free ride, because that its job." When society collapses, a LOT of people are going to suddenly find themselves SOL. And THAT'S the thought that makes me happy when I go to bed at night. :D
