My next-door neighbor was nominated for a Pulitzer	by lucidpsyche	2006-07-26 17:06:33
but he ended up winning other prizes instead, including the $10,000 Livingston award. His story wasn't published in one of the "expensive" papers -- it was in a middle-of-nowhere Idaho town. I highly doubt he had his life threatened just because he wanted to win a prize; rather, I think he was a bit more concerned about the serial child molesters running the local boy scout camp. Let me put it this way -- nobody goes into journalism for the money. Nobody.
