There's many other things that someone can try to push on you "Come to my $club", "Come to my tupperware party" or whatever. They are looking for anyway to get people into something hopefully with some sort of reward to themselves. However, you shouldn't let that stop you from helping people, you'll always find people who are jerks but you'll also find some truely wonderfull people. As a last note, as a Christian myself I certianly don't push my religion on anyone. If I do talk to someone about my church and they don't show an interest I drop it quickly.
