Both the US and UK are going to charge dual citizens for the aid in getting them out of Lebanon. Canada is not. My way of thinking is that your citizenship is not a free ticket home, in this case or in cases like a lost passport, etc. If you travel to places where a travel advisory has been announced for years, and then things go sour, we should help you get home, but expect a bill in your mailbox.
Is there a humanitarian reason for footing the bill? If not, should those people be prevented from travelling to places with travel advisories, direct from Canada?
