that the law has defined this matter in a fashion which I think is incorrect. Insanity doesn't change the action, merely how we view that action.

As a point of law, I'm fairly certain I'm wrong. What I'm trying to get across is that it's the legal definition which needs to be revisited. I feel that insanity shouldn't be used to change the determination of guilt or innocence; merely to temper our collective judgement of an appropriate sentence once that guilt is determined.
