if he would slice saba the same way that he would slice tai. I'd be willing to wager that the answer will be no -- tai needs to be sliced paper thin in order to get the best taste and texture experience. Saba is a much meatier, oilier, fishier tasting fish and should be sliced much more chunky.

P.S. a really nice makisushi recipe: chopped up hamachi, pickled daikon and a dash of yuzu juice, wrapped inside-out in traditional thin roll, garnish outside of roll with black tobiko and black sesame seeds. Slice. Enjoy.
