Was just out at a . . . uhhh . . . business meeting *cough* with some coworkers. One of them was ranting about a network issue with video conferencing, and how much he's gone through in trouble shooting it with no results.
He's replaced the video conferencing equipment, he's had the ISP monitor traffic, he's optimized the configuration of the video equipment, he's run simulations, he's tried different switch ports and different wall jacks, he's had people check the configurations of the routers and the switches, he's changed ISPs, and all sorts of other things.
He said that one of the variables left is the router. He wants to swap that out, but he needs to order a new one. So I asked him if he's tried swapping out the network cables that connect the video equipment to the routers.
Him: *Blink*
Heh. We'll know tomorrow, if that's the problem. |
