The raw line voltage is not what goes into the UART so why would someone writing a C++ manual worry to check they had it the right way around.

When it comes to hardware signaling interfaces I'll stick to trusting the manufacturs data sheets, wikipedia and every hit I get on a google search of "RS232 signal levels" rather than a high level programing manual if that's all the same to you.

Given that I've been designing the hardware for serial ports for over 10 years I'll stick with it.
