| Help with Intel PRO/Set Wireless |

It doesn't seem to want to automatically connect to my home wireless network on Windows startup, even though it is supposedly configured to do so and Wireless Zero Configuration has no problem doing so. A few relevant facts:
- The router is a WRT54G v1.1 running HyperWRT Thibor.
- The connection is using WPA. (I have had to keep SSID broadcast enabled because another laptop seems to have trouble connecting without it.)
- My computer is a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop. The drivers for the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection are already as up to date as possible according to the Dell Support website.
- The Intel PRO/Set Wireless software has no problem detecting the connection as available.
- When I manually click the "Connect" button in the main PRO/Set Wireless dialog, it takes about 5 tries before it actually connects. The failed attempts give the error message "Problem applying Profile!"
- I tried using the "Connect to any network based on profiles only (Cisco mode)" setting.
- I'm pretty sure there is no dumb misconfiguration of the profile in the PRO/Set Wireless software.
- Once the connection is connected, it seems to work okay.
- The signal is strong but has multipath problems. (Reason: I am in the same room as the router, but the router is on the same desk as a desklamp, and I have virtually no latitude to move either.)
- I'm sure there are no virus or spyware problems.
Any suggestions? |
