you. The banks here don't give them back any more. If you want a copy, you have to pay for it - and that's all you get - a copy. You can't get the original any more. There are some stores that still accept checks that have scanners that will scan the check then they will throw them away (or give them back to you) because an image of the check is aready stored at your bank and the funds already debited.
