If they are dealing with different problems and the company has a large enough number of employees, that could easily happen. When I worked as an engineer I found myself in a number of "What are _you_ doing here?" situations. Once, in a different country - I went for a coffee break with the engineer I was coordinating with and bumped into a guy from my company who I had coffee with every day. Good for a laugh. (At least I knew who I was going to have a beer with that night.)
