At least not the usual uninstallation in the Device Manager. The problem (restated) is this:

1. When I plug in the cable after uninstalling, the system reinstalls the official drivers without asking me.
2. If I tell Device Manager to upgrade the drivers and give it the specific location where I extracted the files for the custom driver, it doesn't accept the custom driver as a valid upgrade.
