with what they have learned.
A few nights ago I was reading a book about a butterfly to my 3-year old. I turned a page and she pointed to the picture excitedly and said, 'That's a ...' At first I thought she was pronouncing something wrong so I tried to figure out waht it was. The more I thought about it, the more it seemed to be a real word, until I finally had to ask her, 'Did you say "chrysalis"?'
She responded, 'Yes, Snook said so.' She had latched onto the word from the children's show 'It's a Big,Big World.'
I might add, she was correct, it was a chrysalis. |
