In fact, right now I don't even have caller ID, but when I did, I mainly used it to answer more casually (such as "hey!" instead of my name) when friends called. Not many telemarketers calls me anyway, most of them call once and never more because they can't sell me electricity (included in rent), cheap internet (student apartment, doesn't get any cheaper) or cheap phone calls (IP-telephone). If it did get annoying I'd just add myself to the national "no call"-list. :)
My cell phone I do have caller ID on but that I always answer unless I'm sleeping at the time. But I don't get any unsolicited calls to that one.
And to some of the others who have commented here who rely on their answering machines... I never leave messages on those, nor do I expect them to call me if they see my number on their caller ID (and thus, I don't call those whose call I missed unless I have a reason to want to talk to them right away). Answering machines is the evil! |
