Some species of snal may be able to estivate for three years. this is not tryly sleep, but a sort of suspended animation where metabolism is all but completely shut down. There are species of brine shrimp in Death Valley that can apparently go for tens of years.
Real Nitpick - the QE2, like most ships uses diesel engines but burns what is known as bunker oil, not true diesel fuel.
Real, real, nitpick - Sharks represent one order of fish representing thousands of species. Some biologists believe that they are as different from bony fish as reptiles are from amphibians, and should be given their own class within the cordate phylum.
