Another random fact list - some questionable by jayfarm2006-07-12 07:58:24
Three other wrong or disputed ones: by watsondog 2006-07-12 08:27:14
1. The Canadian $2 bill factoid is wrong:

a) The flag flying is the old Canadian flag that had the Union Jack in the upper left-hand corner. Canada used that flag before 1965.

b) Canada doesn't have a $2 bill any more anyway.

2. The "four words in the English language ending in dous" is wrong. I thought of "timidous" and "cowardous" myself, but there are many scientific and social-scientific terms that end in -dous that are just as much part of the English language as the four common words given.

3. Rhyming is notoriously difficult to set in stone because it is based on sound, not appearance. "Month", for instance, may not have any rhymes in Received Pronunciation (ie BBC English) but it certainly does in a Belfast accent (where I understand it rhymes with "hunt", among other interesting things).
