      A 15 inch cellphone ? by SciSSorS 2006-07-12 06:46:01
It 'd be sitting somewhere in ger house, receiving the SMS. But you'd pay too much for the large screen.

So now a different idea:

a normal cellphone (you say the display is too small? Wait)

and

a

FRESNEL LENSE fifteen inch in diameter. They should be cheap, and if the phone is well lit (a standard desk lamp will do) the lense will enlarge it enough to have her read the text. Of course, a good PHONE SPEAKER SYSTEM could work wonders also, unless she's deaf enough as to NOT being able to have a life conversation any more.

Most deaf people I met, would still understand me when I talked right in their face, upped my voice (big effort, as normally I don't have much punch in my voice) and ... we 'd talk oneto-one. They all seem to hate crowds, gatherings, and "background noise"

So a phone with an extra speaker will do fine: it will be in the house (no background noise), and have a tunable loudness.
The big-wide-lense over the SMS screen may do well also, but make a simple "fixed standard" for it, so she doesn't have to "search" for the spot where the image is best.
