If you dare paint your house white youd be laughted out of town Neibourgh`s house is yellow with brown trim. Dad's house is bright pink. It's tradition, in the old days salors painted there houses bright, distinctive collors so the could see it and recognise it from the sea, nowadays it more to do with the fact that the constant wind and the salt air make it difficult to grow flowers and everything is green, red and brown so we kept painting hour houses brightly to mke up for the lack of natural colors.
