You may want to look at the file permissions. I had it set as rw-r-r as I transferred the file from ntfs partion to my reiserfs gentoo(then had to change permissions as it was root/root read only for root). Then uploaded it. I haven't heard of an xml error in the sims 2 game at all except when you are using the built in content browser. Which will allow imports while browsing the EA site. That app is having problems because EA is having problems. :P The only other reason I can think of is if it needs patched.
