must you try and fix a perfectly workable, but not ideal, solution?
I ask because i'm about to wipe a perfectly workable xp install on my home theatre PC to try and get linux working with it again. I say again because I tried once before and the lack of working WPA support is what killed it. (wpa_supplicant wouldn't authenticate with the wrt54gs)
the purpose behind this is I want something that works better than the ATI multimedia software. I mean, it works, but it isn't nice as something like mythtv.
*grumbles in the general direction of ATI* would be so much easier if a: ATI provided linux capture drivers for the all in wonder line or b: they didn't forcefully kill off the OSS solution for TV out drivers.
I am aware that the ati drivers in xorg v7.x does include capture support, but the aforementioned drivers don't include TV out support, only the binary drivers work for that. not to mention getting it to do tv out as the only display is a royal pain in the arse, fortunately I already have that part figured out from when I did it last time. (i've got a saved copy of the xorg.conf that worked) |
